A new body rash during GLP-1 treatment needs a diagnosis before a cosmetic routine.

Recognize a reason to book

NHS describes shiny, raised purple-red clusters that can have fine white lines; these may be harder to see on brown or black skin. Itching is possible, but not universal. If you suspect lichen planus, see a GP. [1]

Let examination guide care

A dermatologist may examine skin, scalp, nails and mouth, review medicines and sometimes take a skin biopsy. Mild skin disease may not need treatment; prescribed corticosteroid cream can reduce swelling, color changes and itch. [3]

Keep washing gentle

AAD recommends warm water, fragrance-free cleanser and patting skin dry. Avoid scratching, rubbing or injuring affected skin, which can trigger new bumps. A cool compress can ease itch. Keep follow-up appointments so treatment can be adjusted. [2]
