If a red-light mask appeals to you during GLP-1 treatment, compare its claims with the evidence.

Check what a study actually tested

A 2014 trial enrolled 136 volunteers: 113 assigned to four light-treatment groups and 23 untreated controls. After 30 sessions, treated groups showed improvements in roughness and ultrasound-measured collagen density. The equipment used large-area gas-discharge lamps, not retail LED masks. [2]

Treatment groups were randomized, but controls, mainly company employees, were not. There was no sham treatment. JK-Holding funded the study and supplied equipment; investigators were paid by the sponsor. These findings do not establish that a mask restores facial fat or offers a GLP-1-specific benefit. [2]

Verify the regulatory claim

FDA says registration and device listing do not mean approval, clearance or authorization. It does not issue device registration certificates. Search Devices@FDA by the device or company name to check approved and cleared products. [3]

Read the instructions before buying

AAD advises choosing a device for the concern you want treated and following its directions. If recommended, use the specified eye protection every time; sunglasses are not a substitute. [1]
