Considering surgery for loose buttock skin during GLP-1 treatment? Ask these questions before committing.

1. Skin removal or added volume?

Mayo Clinic explains that a buttock lift removes excess skin and fat; a lift alone does not add volume. Ask exactly which procedure is proposed. Adding fat transfer has separate risks, including potentially fatal complications; request a separate risk discussion. [1]

2. Where will the scar sit?

The incision may extend across the lower back from hip to hip. Ask the surgeon to show its planned position. [1]

3. What could affect healing?

ASPS lists poor wound healing, infection, fluid accumulation and altered sensation among possible complications. Ask which risks matter most in your case. [2]

4. Could another operation be needed?

ASPS also lists recurrent skin looseness and possible revision surgery. Ask how follow-up, an unsatisfactory result and additional costs would be handled. [2]

5. Who plans my GLP-1 instructions?

Disclose GLP-1 use before general anesthesia or deep sedation. Most patients can continue medication; preparation decisions belong with the anesthesiologist, surgeon and prescriber. [3]

These US guidance pages are not GLP-1 buttock-lift trials or an outcome guarantee. See our thigh-lift consultation questions for a separate procedure.
