Before booking fat freezing during GLP-1 treatment, include delayed complications in the consultation.

Ask what the risk number counts

A 2025 systematic review included 28 studies and 13,078 patients, identifying 29 PAH cases. Its pooled estimate was 0.22%, about 1 in 455 patients, with a 95% confidence interval of 0.10% to 0.47%. This is a patient estimate, not a rate per treatment cycle. [2]

Evidence certainty was low. Only four studies reported at least 16 weeks of follow-up, and data were insufficient for device-based meta-analysis. These findings cannot supply a personal or GLP-1-specific risk estimate. Ask whether a clinic's quoted rate counts people or treatment cycles and how long patients were followed. [2]

Agree on follow-up before paying

Ask who assesses a new firm bulge months later, how to arrange that visit and what further care could cost. FDA advises discussing personal risks and reading device information. Non-invasive contouring does not treat obesity or produce weight loss. [1]
