Recurring underarm sores during GLP-1 treatment deserve an assessment before a scar routine.

Notice the repeated pattern

Deep, tender underarm lumps that return in the same area can be hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). Repeated reopening may leave scars and tunnels beneath the skin. AAD recommends dermatologist assessment for tender, deep lumps in these areas. [1]

Have the cause assessed

HS can resemble acne or boils. A dermatologist asks about the timing, pain and drainage, examines the skin and may swab leaking fluid to check for infection. The treatment plan depends on the findings. [2]

Avoid adding irritation

For diagnosed HS, AAD advises against squeezing, scrubbing and waxing. Tell your dermatologist about wounds that remain open, reopen or become more painful. Ask for a wound-care plan before choosing scar products. [3]
