TOGETHER-PsO compared ixekizumab plus tirzepatide with ixekizumab alone. Read its skin-clearance result separately from its combined skin-and-weight outcome. [1]
Who qualified for the study
The sponsor's trial listing describes adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and BMI of at least 27. Participants with BMI below 30 also needed a weight-related condition, such as hypertension, sleep apnea or type 2 diabetes. There was no placebo group. [2]
The listing excludes prior ixekizumab or tirzepatide use, prior failure or intolerance of an IL-17 inhibitor or GLP-1 medicine, inflammatory bowel disease and insulin-treated diabetes. These criteria matter when asking whether the findings apply to your treatment history. [2]
Two outcomes at week 36
The open-label randomized trial enrolled 274 adults. PASI 100 means complete improvement on the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index. [1]
| Week-36 outcome | Ixekizumab plus tirzepatide | Ixekizumab alone |
|---|---|---|
| PASI 100 plus at least 10% weight loss | 27.1% | 5.8% |
| PASI 100 alone | 40.6% | 29.0% |
The skin-only difference was 11.6 percentage points (95% confidence interval 0.3–22.9). The combined outcome cannot be described as skin clearance alone. [1]
What the comparison cannot establish
No tirzepatide-only arm was included. Weight change could reveal allocation to masked assessors. More missing results required statistical estimation in the ixekizumab-only group. Sponsor Lilly participated in trial conduct and analysis. [1]
The combination and ixekizumab-only groups reported nausea in 24.6% and 2.2%, and serious adverse events in 3.6% and 6.0%. [1]
Ask about benefits and harms together. These figures do not establish that adding treatment is appropriate for someone who already has satisfactory skin control, or that a GLP-1 prescription can replace their psoriasis medicine.
Use the corrected results table
The journal corrected Table 2 in July 2026: certain variability labels should read mean and standard error, rather than standard deviation. This article uses the corrected online table. The correction does not identify a change to the clearance percentages above. [3]
Bring both treatment histories to the appointment
AAD explains that psoriasis treatment depends on disease type, location, severity, daily impact, other conditions and current medicines. Follow-up checks include skin response, nails, joint symptoms and associated health conditions. [4]
List your previous psoriasis treatments, why each stopped, current GLP-1 medicine and dose, and changes you have noticed. Ask the dermatologist and prescribing clinician to agree on who monitors each medicine. Do not stop effective psoriasis treatment to copy one part of this study.
